Autism Western Cape (previously the Society for Autistic Children) was founded in 1967 and is a non-profit organisation focused on the needs of those in the province affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders.
In 2003 the Society for Autistic Children was renamed Autism Western Cape and was transformed into a Section 21 governed by an independent Board of Directors. We strive to increase public awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders and are focused on provision of support , counselling and advisory services, early intervention awareness and advocacy, as well as training, capacity building and skills transfer for parents, caregivers, teachers, Early Childhood Development (ECD) practitioners and other professionals.
We offer post diagnosis counselling and workshops to parents whose children have been diagnosed with Autism as well as support, information and advisory services to anyone that requires them.
